The evils of China’s registration system

The evils of China’s registration system

Finally, on May 30, 2014, a guy named Pu Jiangcao wrote a commentary saying that the current “registration system” and “college entrance exam” eligibility rules have created a situation in which “high school graduates have nowhere to take their college entrance exam”.

In China, there are two “registration” systems that restrict students. One is the household registration system and the other is the student registration system.

The city of Guangzhou tightened its student registration further last week. The new rules prohibit any students from transferring their student registration, thus eliminating all students who do not have a Guangzhou city student registration from entering Guangzhou city schools.

A graduating high school senior is of Anhui ancestry. His household registration is of Anhui. His student registration is in Inner Mongolia. He has always been attending school in Huanggang, Hubei province. Neither his household registration nor his student registration are in Hubei. Therefore, he is not eligible to take the college entrance exam in Hubei. But since he has not actually been attending school in Inner Mongolia, he is not eligible to take the college entrance exam in Inner Mongolia. And for the same reason, without a student registration in his ancestral Anhui province, he cannot return to Anhui to take the national college entrance exam there.

He has nowhere to take the college entrance exam.

There were 340 students who applied to take the college entrance exam at the place where they have their household registration and at the place where they actually attended school. They were all rejected and denied the right to take the college entrance exam at either place.

These high school graduates have been denied their right to take the college entrance exam and continue their education just because they are not on the appropriate registry is “rediculous” says this guy named Pu Jiangcao.

[Master Chen says]

As I have said all along, the household registration system is segregatory and discriminatory, and it robs Chinese students of their future. It is an evil system.

That is why the Chinese mainland, with such brutish administrative regulations, will never become civilized. And because the administrators and policy makers do not realize this evil, the Chinese mainland people will always remain uncivilized.

Those who are evil do not admit they are evil and do not recognize their own evilness. They always blame others for their own evilness.

Since the time of Confucius, there has always been a debate between those who believe in “人 性 本 善 ren xing ben shan”, “people are born with a good nature”, and in “人 性 本 恶 ren xing ben e”, “people are born with an evil nature”.

Buddhism says that people are born with a good nature, and that the spirit of the Buddha is found within when one does not think. Greed, hate come from thinking while ignorance comes from the lack of learning what is right and what is wrong. Those who espause evil accept evilness without judgment. This is a form of ignorance.

All bureaucrats who implement the household registration system are evil because they are blind and thus ignorant to the evil the system brings upon innocent students.

With the perpetuation of such an uncivilized system, the Chinese mainland will remain uncivilized as a society.
