Taiwan to build wolf pack missile assault boats

Taiwan’s Central Academy of Sciences is seeking bids from civilian companies in Taiwan to build 60 45-ton draft stealth missile assault boats for service in four years (2022).  The boat will be 21.4 meters long, 5.4 meters wide with a draft of 2.4 meters, and a speed of 35 knots for up to 100 nautical miles.  Its wave resistance will be Beaufort 5 in normal operation and its structural integrity and stability can resist waves measured at Beaufort 7.  The boat will be made of fiber reinforced plastic or aluminum alloy with a stealth body of low RCS (radar cross section) design.

The fleet will employ “wolf pack” tactics as small rocket and missile assault craft.
